I had a great phone call from a client this week (July 2026). He has been working with us for a while, and in the last couple of years, we have been doing more with his stock and property. Mostly he just works along using the remedies in his UET Energy Tower.

He rings up to tell me that the worm count in his wethers are going down 5 mths after his last drench, and he is wrapped. He is pretty switched on and keeps an eye on his worm burden with Faecal Egg Count (FEC) tests. Starts off in January with a high egg count, panics, gives them a drench with Startect and checks his FEC again – 1250 eggs/gram so still high.

He gives me a call, and I put his sheep in our worming program, which we do from here, leading up to the full moon each month. I also suggested that he give his sheep a drench of apple cider vinegar, as I have had good results with this in the past. We also sent him some of our sheep wormer in pilules that work best in the UET’s.  He now puts them in each month for the three days leading up to the full moon – similar to our worming program (but with only part of what we do). 

Working on the theory that worms are there for a purpose and we believe that purpose is to remove heavy metal load from the body, I suggest that he uses a heavy metal detox a couple of times a month at different intervals (he has a liquid one on hand so it needs to be activated each day.  It makes it a bit hit and miss but he has been having good results with the process). Supporting the worms process with the heavy metals gives us a 2 prong approach.

Over the next 5 months he has done a couple of FEC’s checking to see how his sheep are going. Being a year that has had some rain and quite mild (very few frosts, moist, short green pick).  Ideal conditions for sheep to pick up freshly hatched worms, farmers would expect worm levels to rise. Over this time he has seen a gradual decline in worm numbers down to 89 eggs/gram.

He was happy and excited, as in New England, worms are a big issue. This is not the first time we have had great results on this property and he likes to check how things are going with FEC’s.  It is a simple but important move as a lot of drenches no longer work on his property. So with time, he has come to trust our processes.
